About

This course aims to give early childhood educators an understanding of the importance of play in young children’s learning. It examines the theory behind the practice before exploring the use of centres for playful learning. Educators not only engage with the theory in this course but also learn to create different learning centres that support playful learning. There are two modules in this course; each module requires Knowledge Checks to be completed before moving on. There are two final assignments that need to be satisfactorily completed (sent to your instructor) before you receive your certificate of completion. MODULE 1 An Introduction to Learning through Play Play in Pedagogy The Science of Play Parental Misconceptions Benefits of Play-based Learning Child-initiated Play Guided Play Guided Play and the Teacher's Role MODULE 2 Learning Centres and Pedagogy of Play Dramatic Play PLEASE NOTE: By registering for this course, you acknowledge the following: - a computer and technology is needed to complete the course - 6 months is the maximum time allotted to complete the course - the course is valid towards ECE re-certification in B.C. only - no refunds are given
